S&C was named a Capital Markets “Practice Group of the Year” by Law360. In an interview with the publication, Bob Downes and Cathy Clarkin, Co-Chairs of the Capital Markets Practice, said the Firm’s generalist and international approach enabled the group to handle some of the biggest and most complex transactions of the year, such as advising SoftBank in its subsidiary Arm’s $5.23 billion IPO, the largest IPO of 2023. “Few, if any, firms have the strength in their offices who can bring a transaction like that together,” Bob said. “We focus on the capital markets group as an international practice, so we’re very well-suited for those cross-border transactions.”
The firm recently advised long-time client Enbridge in its $3.39 billion equity offering concurrent with its $14 billion acquisition of three companies from Dominion Energy; Sphere Entertainment in its spin-off and listing of its traditional live entertainment businesses; Rakuten Bank in Japan’s largest IPO since 2018; and Goldman Sachs as sole placement agent in Stripe’s $6.5 billion stock private placement, one of the largest private stock sales in U.S. history.
S&C was named a “Firm of the Year” for its showing in these awards, tied for the most distinctions with nine practices selected.
